Welcome

Could you volunteer?

Dear friends,

Your Church Needs You!

Now that we are resuming more services in the church building, there is a need for more volunteers to take on a variety of roles and so this comes to ask whether you can consider helping in any way.  Whether or not you undertook any of these roles before ‘lockdown’, we’d encourage you to think and pray about whether there’s anything you might be able to help with.

Basically we have three particular needs:

  • We’re looking for people to read a Bible reading and / or write and lead the prayers during services.  You can either do this in services in church, or the digital services, or both.  There will be training and guidance, and if you don’t have the know-how to record yourself, we are happy to help, and someone could meet you in church and do the videoing.
  • We now have to clean the church more frequently, so we are looking for people willing to help clean between services on a Sunday and / or to help with regular cleaning (perhaps on a rota cleaning once every other month).
  • We also need welcomers who can greet people arriving in church, show them to seats, and help record details for NHS Test and Trace.  Welcomers are needed for both the 10am and 4pm services.

If you would like to volunteer for any of those roles, please contact Mary in the Parish Office on 0118 966 8575 or email admin@earleystpeters.org.uk.  We will then be in touch with you to discuss which dates you might be available.  If you would like to know more about any role or ask questions, please speak to one of the clergy or churchwardens.

We are working hard to keep everyone as safe as possible and you can see the detailed risk assessments here.  We know that not everyone yet feels able to be back in church, or to volunteer to help, and we completely understand that.  People must only do what they feel comfortable and safe doing, and seek advice from their doctor if necessary.

We are very grateful to everyone who has helped out in various ways on our first few Sundays of services back in the building, as well as those who have contributed to our digital services.

Thank you so much for all the many ways you support the life of our church family, whether in the church building or from home, in serving and praying.

This comes with our thanks and good wishes,

Hannah & Philip
